Marissa Ryan (Waterbury, Conn.) and sophomore
Jessica Kraszewski (West Haven, Conn.) each tallied three goals and one assist, but the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team lost to American International College on Wednesday, 20-10.
The Owls are now 0-7, 0-3 in the Northeast-10 Conference. AIC improved to 3-5, 1-2.
AIC jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the opening 10:19 of the game. However, Southern Connecticut scored seven of the next 10 goals to close within 9-7 at halftime.
Ryan and Kraszewski each tallied a pair of their goals during the run, while
Lauren Karn (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.),
KellyAnne McCafferty (Durham, N.H.) and
Elizabeth Dishian (Shelton, Conn.) scored once for the Owls.
The host Yellow Jackets pulled away in the second half when they outscored the Owls by an 11-3 margin. SCSU received second half goals from Ryan, Kraszewski and Dishian.
The Owls are back in action on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. when they host Southern New Hampshire.
