Vanessa Pagano (Wilton, Conn.) finished with a career-high 19 saves, but the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team dropped a 10-7 decision at Dominican College in non-league action on Thursday.
The Owls dropped to 4-12 on the year while Dominican improved to 10-6.
Dominican jumped out to a 5-0 lead midway through the first half before Owls' goals from
Emily Orser (Hamden, Conn.) and
Sarah Cebry (Burlington, Conn.) cut the deficit to 5-2. The Chargers scored the next goal before Cebry added her second of the day to make it 6-3 at the half.
A goal from
Kennedy Sherman (Buchanan, N.Y.) combined with two goals from Muise - sandwiched around two Dominican scores - allowed the Owls to climb within just two at 8-6 with 8:41 remaining. The Chargers scored the next two goals before Muise added a late tally to cap the hat trick.
SCSU closes the regular season on Saturday for a Northeast-10 Conference road game at St. Anselm.
