NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sophomore Kristin Whitley (North Andover, Mass.) of the softball team and senior Kyle Rosadino (Berwyn, Pa.) of the baseball team have been named as the Comcast/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Month for April.
Whitley enjoyed a phenomenal month of April, a stretch in which the Owls won 18 of 28 games. She batted a team-best .474 with a team-best nine home runs and 31 runs batted in. Whitley tallied a hit in 25 of 28 contests and registered 14 multiple-hit games along the way. She registered an on-base percentage of .505 and slugged a remarkable .895 for the month. She also posted a .985 fielding percentage.
Rosadino paced the Owls with a team-best .344 batting average in April as the Owls recorded a 12-4-1 mark. He started all 17 contests and ranked second on the club for the month for 10 RBI. His 22 hits were a team-high, while his four doubles and 28 total bases ranked second. Rosadino also stole five bases and did not record an error in the field.
For the third consecutive year, Comcast is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University’s ‘Athlete of the Month’ recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the ‘Athlete of the Month’ program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each month for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
