NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior Sarah Brochu (Wilbraham, Mass.) of the women’s soccer team has been named as the Comcast/Southern Connecticut State University Athlete of the Month for August.
Brochu played a pivotal role in the Owls’ only contest of the month, a 1-0 win over Philadelphia. She set up the lone goal and also keyed the defense to a season-opening clean sheet.
For the fourth consecutive year, Comcast is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University’s ‘Athlete of the Month’ recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the ‘Athlete of the Month’ program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each month for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
