NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Audrey Dolloff (Raynham, Mass.) of the field hockey team and senior Robert Thomas (Brooklyn, N.Y.) of the football team have been named as the Connecticut Army National Guard/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.
Dolloff helped the Owls to a split in a pair of games during the final week of the regular season. She turned away 92-percent of the shots faced and capped her collegiate career with a 13 save shutout in a 1-0 win at St. Michael’s. That contest was punctuated by Dolloff’s denial of a potential game-tying penalty stroke with 4.1 seconds left in regulation. It was Dolloff’s sixth career shutout and save No. 765 of her career, a new SCSU record.
Thomas rushed 25 times for 124 yards and three touchdowns in the Owls’ 49-46 loss to LIU-Post on Saturday. He broke the 100 yard mark for the fourth consecutive game and set a new career-best with the three scores in the contest.
The Connecticut Army National Guard is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University’s ‘Athlete of the Week’ recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the ‘Athlete of the Week’ program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
