EIGHT STRAIGHT: SCSU Men’s Indoor Track & Field Wins Their Eighth Consecutive NE10 Championship

BOSTON, Mass. - Southern Connecticut Men's Indoor Track & Field won their eighth straight Northeast-10 Conference Championship at the TRACK at New Balance. It is their 19th conference championship overall. The team scored 205.50 points, 63.5 points ahead of second place. 

Dylan Torok was named the NE10 Men's Most Outstanding Field Performer after winning the Heptathlon and placing third in the Pole Vault and High Jump. Leo Jolly received the Elite 24 award, presented to the male competitor with the highest cumulative GPA. 

TRACK
60m Hurdles
Osaretin Osagie finished second in the 60m Hurdles with a time of 8.25. Joe Nahm followed in seventh, finishing at 8.96. 

60m Dash
Nolan Freeman medaled in the 60m Dash, placing third with a time of 6.96. First-year Owl Marquis Ward placed seventh at 7.14. 

Mile Run
In the Mile, Nate Huebner was Southern's top finisher, placing fifth at 4:23.70. Frankie Porrini crossed in seventh with a time of 4:27.42. 

400m Dash
Sam Sandler led the five Owls who reached the 400m Dash Final, finishing in second with a time of 48.23. That time meets the NCAA Division II Provisional Qualifying Mark. Osaretin Osagie placed third at 48.80, a new personal best, and Quinn Favorite recorded a personal best time of 49.53 to place sixth. Matt Kilmer and Max Musial finished in seventh and eight, with times of 49.58 and 50.13. 

800m Run
Owen Gagne placed sixth in the 800m, running a time of 2:00.94. 

3000m Run
The first-year duo of Joseph Lamburn and John Glidden led the way for Southern in the 3000m. Lamburn placed third with a personal best time of 8:43.04, and Glidden followed in fourth at 8:47.35. Luca Cazzaniga placed sixth, running a time of 8:51.99, and Ryan Gagne finished in 12th at 9:05.43, a new personal best. Matt Speight and Dom Tartarelli rounded out the pack in 14th and 16th with times of 9:09.36 and 9:19.68 respectively. 

200m Dash
Nolan Freeman grabbed the silver in the 200m Dash, running a time of 21.66 and coming one hundredth of a short of first. Marquis Ward placed fifth at 21.91, a personal best, and Sam Sandler placed sixth at 22.08. 

4x800m Relay
The Owls' 4x800m team of Evan McNeice, Mekkhi Adkins, Nate Huebner, and Owen Gagne finished second with a time of 7:59.38. The race was a photo finish that saw the time difference come down to thousandths of a second. 

4x400m Relay 
Southern's 4x400 team of Matt Kilmer, Max Musial, Ty Phelan, and Quinn Favorite won the event, running a time of 3:20.17. 

FIELD
Triple Jump
Holden Speed won the Triple Jump with a mark of 14.36m (47' 1.5"), a new personal best. JC Joyner placed seventh, jumping 13.29m (43' 7.25"). 

High Jump
Lawrence Hicks grabbed the gold in the High Jump, clearing 1.96m (6' 5"), a personal best height. Dylan Torok placed third with a mark of 1.86m (6' 1.25"). 

Shot Put
Cameron Belton won his fourth straight NE10 Shot Put Championship, throwing 18.08m (59' 4") to secure first place. Natanael Barbosa Torres placed second, throwing 16.55m (54' 3.25"). Both Belton and Barbosa Torres reached the DII Provisional Qualifying Mark. Leo Jolly threw 14.38m (47' 2.25"), good for fourth, and Christopher Bon Tempo threw 14.15m (46' 5.25") to finish in sixth. Jordan Ribeiro finished in 13th with a throw of 13.17m (43' 2.50"). 

Heptathlon
Dylan Torok won the Heptathlon for the second straight year, scoring 4729. On Day 2, he placed fifth in the 60m Hurdles, with a personal best time of 9.22. He won the Pole Vault, clearing 4.30m (14' 1.25"). He placed seventh in the 1000m to close out the Heptathlon with a time of 3:08.07.
