The 1972-73 Southern Connecticut State University men’s gymnastics team broke new ground on many levels. Among the notable achievements included the first-ever NCAA title for any Connecticut State system school as well as the first-ever NCAA gymnastics title for a college-division team in New England.
The Owls finished 13-1 during the regular season and snapped Penn State’s 27-meet winning streak in the process before overpowering Cal-State Northridge at the NCAA Division II finals at San Francisco State University. John Crosby won five individual NCAA titles at that meet to lead the way for the Owls.
