1974-75 Men's Gymnastics Team NCAA Champions

The 1974-75 Southern Connecticut State University men’s gymnastics team won the program’s second NCAA Division II title in program history, just two years after the Owls won the 1972-73 title. The Owls produced the first unbeaten season in dual meet competition in program history, posting a perfect 10-0 record. 
 
Senior Jay Whelan was named the 1975 Nissen Award Winner which is given to the nation’s most outstanding senior gymnast. Whelan also won the NCAA All-Around Championship. 
 
Four All-America honors were awarded to Peter Kormann while Rich Onysko earned three All-America honors. Sam Schuh, Steve Randall, Ken Anderson, Dave Mesagno, Paddy Nugent and Whelan also earned recognition to give the team 13 for the most in a single season to that point. Head Coach Abie Grossfeld was also named the NCAA Division II National and Eastern Regional Coach of the Year.
