Hall of Fame
Bruce Hutchinson founded Southern’s swim program in 1960. After the first, and only, losing season, Hutchinson led his teams to 36 consecutive winning seasons with an overall 317-111 record, or .740 average. He coached more than 100 All-Americans and seven NCAA champions. Under his leadership, Southern’s swim program has produced some of Connecticut and New England’s most successful high school swim coaches. Hutchinson, himself, was a two-time All-America swimmer at Springfield College and was inducted into the Springfield College Hall of Fame in 1990. The pool at Moore Fieldhouse was named the Bruce Hutchinson Natatorium on Feb. 7, 1997.
