Edward Aston, ’69, was a three-year letter winner, NCAA qualifier in the 200-yard butterfly, co-captain and MVP of Southern’s men’s swim team. He went on to become a legendary coach at Cheshire High School, where he coached the girls’ team for 27 years and the boys’ team for 28 years. Under his coaching, Cheshire won numerous state titles in both divisions. Aston was twice named High School Coach of the Year by the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference, as well as the Connecticut Sports Writers’ Alliance Coach of the Year and is one of the Hartford Courant’s “100 Top Coaches of the Century.”
