Southern Connecticut State University Athletics

Dr. James W. Moore was the primary force in developing Southern’s athletic facilities, and the Owls’ fieldhouse is named in his honor. He was director of the division for Health, Physical Education, and Recreation and spent 27 years working as head baseball coach and assistant football coach to the Owls. Previously, he was head football coach at Murray State University from 1938-42 and 1946-48. He was also inducted into the Murray State Athletics Hall of Fame.
