Raymond Ciarleglio ’63/MS ‘72 was a two-sport standout in baseball and football at Southern Connecticut. In each of his three years as a member of the baseball squad, he led the team in batting average, home runs, runs batted in and hits. Ciarleglio served as a team captain as a senior and helped the Owls to three consecutive winning seasons.

On the gridiron, he was a three-year starter at quarterback and defensive back and was an All-East and Small College All-America selection. His seven interceptions in 1960 set a new single-season record, and his 14 career picks still ranked tied for third in SCSU history at the time of his induction.

Following graduation, Ciarleglio went on to enjoy distinguished careers in both education and coaching spanning more than half a century at numerous schools in Connecticut.
