Hall of Fame
                
    Marjorie Dolan was a three-sport standout for Southern Connecticut State College from 1970 through 1974, competing in volleyball, basketball and softball. Dolan was part of the 1972 volleyball team that played in the AIAW National Championship, and the women’s basketball team that qualified for the AIAW Tournament all four years. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in health, physical education, and recreation from Southern in 1974, she later earned her master’s degree in 1976 in Adaptive Physical Education at SCSC.
After graduation, Dolan severed as Southern Connecticut’s head volleyball coach for one season and an assistant softball coach for two seasons before embarking on an accomplished career at North Haven (Conn.) High School. Dolan coached girl’s volleyball and was also named North Haven’s Director of Athletics in 1993. In 2004, the Connecticut Association of Athletic Directors presented the NIAAA State Award of Merit to Marge for her outstanding service and dedication to the student-athletes of Connecticut.
Throughout her teaching years, Marge supervised many student teachers from SCSU, helping them prepare for their teaching careers.  As department chair, Marge continued to coordinate the placement of physical education student teachers throughout the school district. Dolan coached volleyball and basketball at North Haven before also enjoying a long career as an official in both sports at the high school and college level.
Dolan was inducted into the into the Connecticut Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993 and the Connecticut Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2005. Dolan’s other honors include the Professional Service Award from CAHPERD in 1986, she was inducted into the New Agenda, the Northeast Women’s Hall of Fame in 1992, and was honored by the New Haven Grid Iron Club in 1999.
